Eight versions of the self all come together to create the girl others have come to know. Each Abi serves a purpose and knows something that the other doesn't. A constant internal battle keeps her in line, but at what cost?
This painting is about self-discovery and self-realization. My inner self is not always the person that I present to others. Often times, it feels like there are different personas that all influence one another, rather than one active voice with the same morals and ideals. In the painting, I used a literal form of symbolism to depict 8 different Abi's, all with their own attitude, purpose, and personality. Although they are contrasting, a common spirit connects them and creates a unique balance.
